Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Circuit.

Circuit is a smart mobility payments platform built for EV fleets. We give your drivers a single RFID card that works across 75% of the UK public charging network, and we automate home charging reimbursement at the actual energy tariff rate, all rolled up into one HMRC-compliant monthly invoice.

Circuit gives access to 75% of the UK public charging network, covering both DC rapid chargers and AC destination chargers across many of the major networks. Contact support@circuitpay.co.uk if you have a specific network you would like to check.

Circuit works with any EV that can use a standard public charge point. For home charging reimbursement, the platform connects with most major home charger brands and energy suppliers. Speak to our team if you have questions about a specific vehicle or charger setup.

None. Circuit passes through CPO (Charge Point Operator) tariffs at cost, with no mark-ups. There are no setup fees and no monthly subscription. The only charge is a small, transparent platform fee per kWh, clearly stated during onboarding. For more details on our platform fee please contact support@circuitpay.co.uk

One HMRC-compliant VAT invoice covering all public charging sessions and all home charging reimbursements across your entire fleet, no matter how many drivers or charge points are involved. Finance teams get one document, not dozens.

Yes. Circuit's invoicing and reimbursement processes are fully compliant with HMRC requirements. All VAT is correctly accounted for, and our invoices are structured to simplify your fleet's tax reporting.

Cards are dispatched to your chosen address next working day via recorded delivery. No 3–5 day wait.

Cards are sent out pre-activated and ready to use. Using the Circuit dashboard you have the option to connect a card to a specific vehicle in your fleet which will provide enriched insights and improve the utility of the platform. Vehicles can be added or removed in the dashboard. The dashboard also allows cards to be easily frozen or deactivated.

Every Circuit customer gets a dedicated account manager. Support is available by phone and email, with real-time or same-day responses, not a three-day ticket queue.

Drivers link their home energy account and charger to the Circuit platform. Our software automatically calculates the cost of each work-related charging session at the driver\'s actual tariff rate and pays reimbursement directly to their energy bill. No expense claims. No out-of-pocket delays. Our developers are currently making the final touches to this functionality before launching. Want to be a pilot partner? Email us at hello@circuitpay.co.uk

The government\'s Advisory Electricity Rate (AER) is set at 7p/mile for home charging (as of 01/12/2025), equivalent to roughly 19p/kWh, yet a typical overnight EV tariff like EDF GoElectric 35 is just 6.5p/kWh. That gap means businesses overpay by around £714 per driver, per year. Circuit reimburses at the real tariff rate, so drivers are neither underpaid nor does your business overpay. Accurate, fair, and fully auditable. Our developers are currently making the final touches to this functionality before launching. Want to be a pilot partner? Email us at hello@circuitpay.co.uk

First, check you are tapping the right reader - some charge points require you to tap the contactless payment terminal whilst others have a dedicated "Charge Card" or "RFID card" reader located on the charge point. If you still experience issues, contact the Charge Point Operator (CPO) directly. Their 24/7 helpline number is displayed on the charger itself. CPOs are legally required to provide round-the-clock support under UK regulations.

Every public charge point in the UK must display the operator's name and a helpline number on the unit. If a charge won't start or the cable is stuck, the CPO is your fastest route to a fix.

Make sure your card is active in the Circuit dashboard by contacting your fleet manager. If the issue persists, try using a different connector or charger at the same site. If still no luck, contact the charge point operator's 24/7 helpline which is legally required to be listed on the charge point.

Yes. The Circuit RFID card works independently of your phone. Simply tap or hold the card against the reader on the charge point to start a session. No app, no signal, no problem. This is especially useful at underground car parks or rural locations with limited connectivity.

Don't force it. First, make sure the charging session has fully ended in the app or on the charger's screen. Try locking and unlocking your vehicle, as many EVs release the cable when the doors are unlocked. If it's still stuck, contact the CPO's helpline as they can often release the cable remotely.

For charger hardware issues (broken screen, stuck cable, no power), contact the CPO directly as they maintain the equipment and can dispatch engineers or reset chargers remotely. For account, billing, or card issues, contact Circuit. When in doubt, reach out to Circuit support and we'll point you in the right direction.
